Choice of pages from my book of illustrations, inspired by stunning poem written by E.A.Poe

Alone
From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were; I have not seen
As others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone.
Then- in my childhood, in the dawn
Of a most stormy life- was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:
From the torrent,
or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold,
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by,
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view.

E.A.Poe, 1830.

> Renaissance Reminiscence

Here's only few photos from the set 'REN-REM'. For this concept I have purposely chosen conventional pieces from the history of art, whose content (main motif, theme) includes well-known titles, phenomenon of the society they belonged to, but which had also represented "week points", taboo-themes, or subjects of mythology. That way, main fields of my interests and experiments had become religion in urban society (its place & form of communication), aspects of sexuality, rationalization or reduction of the human soul, real and modified body...
Why renaissance, baroque?
Exploring the global effect of mass-media and its ways of usurping "gastronomic" quality of art, brings me to this period. Attempt to reduce another "idyllic" piece of art, but with all urban-society improvements included, gave me only bizarre, experimental image as a product, and nothing more then a thin reminiscence on a renaissance.
In the new-age rush of artificial beauty, Art is enforced to retreat in silence. It's starting to be the antitheses for all characteristics which had been canonized in classical past (starting from sense for beauty). Model's expression is being suspended between complete impersonality and obviously ironic and artificial attempt to reproduce the original pathos, so the final image is far from "idyllic" - it has become a cold "package" of figurative elements.
